Art

Prof. John Szentágothai, a „man of renaissance” did have not only scientific but also artistic achievements. He used his knowledge of drawing and painting for outstanding scientific illustrations. In addition, painting aquarelles was a major hobby of Prof. Szentágothai. He traveled a lot and always took an aquarelle set and brushes with him. His aquarelles are of artistic quality. They not only document objects but also provide feelings and thoughts. The compositions are well rounded, the execution is fluent, and the colors are sensationally fresh. Here, we present some aquarelles to demonstrate the versatility of the interest of John Szentágothai and to illustrate his style as a painter.
